One Crazy Year

Winry was born on Monday Sept 12, the next day she had surgery where they discovered she had Meconium Peritonitis (a perforated intestine in utero, which caused her bowel to fill her abdomen), they gave her a colostomy. She had the ostomy bag for about 8 weeks, then she was well enough for them to reverse it. Two weeks later on November 23rd (the day before Thanksgiving) Winry was released from the Children's Hospital of Saint Francis.  That was the best day of my life.

 Wearing her Birthday Bear hat

Winry was 4 pounds 13 ounces when she was born and only 4 pounds after her surgery, the day she came home she weighed 6 pounds 13 ounces and was over 2 months old.

Today Winry is a happy, healthy little diva. Our worlds revolve around her.  She may not be the perfect child but she is perfect for us. I know God meant her to come to us. She blesses our lives every single day.

Winry's first birthday was two weeks ago today. She now weighs 17.4 pounds. All of my in-laws came up from Texas for her first birthday party. We couldn't have asked for more, it was a great party with a lot of food, toys, family and fun.  Winry was such a difficult baby after she came home I've always been anxious for her to make new milestones, turning over, holding her own bottle, sitting up, crawling, and now waiting on her to walk. I've finally realized how quickly this year has gone and before I know it she will be in Kindergarten and pushing me away not wanting hugs or kisses...I'm not ready for that.
